Can you make ends meet in Brooklyn in the early 1900s? is an interactive computer game set in a typical neighborhood in Brooklyn. You can choose one of four occupations and see how far your wages will go.

The idea is for you to put yourself in the shoes of a working Brooklynite, circa 1915, and briefly experience the challenge and choices that would have to be made. How much choice did you really have at the prevailing wages in that occupation? If you were African-American or female would you have earned less?

See how far your wages would go for housing, food, transportation and recreation. Which jobs were the highest paid and who got them?
